Brick factory De Rijswaard has been modernising its operations with a new oven and improved production logistics, which left the manufacturer with one final challenge: how can we make these modernisations visible to our customers?
Wit Design developed a special showroom located at the end of the visitor tour, which consists of a glass structure that hangs inside the production hall. From this unique viewpoint visitors can observe the activities in the heart of the factory. Looking down they can see transport platforms with freshly baked bricks passing underneath the glass section of the showroom floor; an ingenious way to make the process more tangible. The entrance is also worth noting: the access stairs are situated in front of the façade and offer a lovely view of the floodplains where clay used to be extracted back in the day. The concrete section of the showroom floor has holes that allow visitors and employees to fix specially designed seats and tables into place. The trapezium-shaped lighting element provides the finishing touch. Employees can adjust the level of light depending on the circumstances – from daylight to mood lighting in an instant.
